Alliance says Barton bill won’t promote energy efficiency

HOUSTON, July 18, 2001 – With debate under way on an energy efficiency bill in the House Energy and Commerce Committee Wednesday, a national energy conservation organization called for stricter standards to be included in the legislation.

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 18, 2001 – Fred D. Hafer, chairman, president and chief executive officer of GPU, Inc. said that findings and recommendations announced today by the Consumer Energy Council of America (CECA) “set forth a useful blueprint for bringing distributed energy resources into the mainstream of the electric industry as a key energy solution of the future.”
