Alliant Energy finalizes combination of two Iowa utilities

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, Jan. 4, 2002 – Alliant Energy officials said today that effective January 1, 2002, the holding company’s two Iowa utilities, IES Utilities Inc. and Interstate Power Company, became one legal entity named Interstate Power and Light Company.

The combination of the two Iowa utilities is one of the final touches of the Alliant Energy merger from 1998. Customers will see a new bill format during the second quarter of 2002 to reflect the new name of Alliant Energy’s Iowa utility.
