Another utility wired for e-billing

Baltimore Gas & Electric-which supports over one million customers in the Baltimore area-has taken the e-plunge and will offer Internet bill presentment and payment services from Derivion, an Atlanta-based provider of e-bill presentment and payment (EBPP) services. Derivion`s inetBiller application will operate as an extension of the utility`s existing systems, retaining total control of the presentation and payment process and allowing existing relationships with banks and other financial institutions to continue without disruption. The electronic bill is slated to be created by Derivion`s technology, but the presentation of the bill itself will remain in the utility`s hands. The bill will be available through a link at the BG&E website, which means it can easily incorporate additional online marketing opportunities, as well as customer care programs.
