Back to Brazil

It seems like I made my first trip to Brazil only a few months ago, but it’s been almost a year. At the end of this month, I’ll make another trip to Brazil, but this time it’s to attend DistribuTECH Brasil.

Last month’s issue included a preview of DistribuTECH Brasil. In this issue, Senior Editor Kristen Wright writes about some Brazilian utilities’ smart grid projects. She also covers the latest smart meter regulation, which allows customers to opt in for smart meters—a big change from the expectation that would have required smart meters for all customers.

If you want to learn more about Brazil’s electricity sector, you still have time to book your travel to Rio de Janeiro and join us. If you can’t make it, I’ll do my best to share with you the technologies and trends we discuss. As Silver Spring Networks Vice President Dan Middleton is quoted in Kristen’s article, “Brazil should be rightfully proud of the innovation they are demonstrating to the rest of the world.”
