Calif. Gov. signs bill to ease rate spikes

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 6, 2000 (AP) – Legislation meant to ease the burden of power rate spikes in Southern California and help avert future energy shortages in the state were signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Gray Davis.

AUSTIN, Sept. 11, 2000 – The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) called a transmission emergency advisory at 1:30 p.m. Monday and effectively ordered a “no touch” day due to south-to-north transmission constraints.
