California ISO calls Stage Two electrical emergency

FOLSOM, Calif., May 10, 2001 — The California Independent System Operator (California ISO) declared a Stage Two Electrical Emergency for Thursday at 1:00 p.m., with operating reserves dipping below five percent.

CALGARY, May 10, 2001 — Even with rising electricity demand in recent years, most Canadian provincial electricity markets are adequately supplied according to a report released today by the National Energy Board.
