California reels from continued power crisis, yet Pennsylvania tells a different story

In California, consumer advocate Harvey Rosenfield has proposed a ballot initiative to dismantle California’s 1997 electricity restructuring law and set up a new agency to run electricity generation, transmission and distribution in the state. This ballot initiative is the latest salvo in a politically charged effort by policy-makers, regulators and utilities to find a solution to the state’s energy crisis.

JUNO BEACH, Fla. and NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 15, 2000 – Shareholders of FPL Group, Inc. (NYSE: FPL) and Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) today gave their approval to a proposed merger of equals that would result in one of the largest power companies in the nation.
