Calpine expecting higher earnings

HOUSTON, Sept. 20, 2000 – In an uncertain natural gas market, independent power producer Calpine Corp. has set a goal of locking up about 65% of its natural gas supply in 6-7 year contracts and owning about 25% of its needs, Senior Vice-Pres. Diana Knox said Tuesday in Houston.

NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 20, 2000 – Public Service Enterprise Group chairman and CEO E. James Ferland announced that in accord with the company’s strategic expansion of its domestic electric generation business, its unregulated independent power subsidiary PSEG Power LLC will assume responsibility for four Midwest generation projects currently being developed by its PSEG Global affiliate. Ferland also said that PSEG Power will undertake development of all future U.S. generation projects.
