CES, Digital Paper form strategic alliance

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 24, 2002 — Digital Paper Corp., a provider of document access and collaboration solutions, and CES International, a provider of energy-delivery and network-management software for distribution utilities, announced Tuesday a strategic alliance between the two companies.

Under the partnership, Digital Paper will extend CES’ flagship product, the Centricity Operation Resource Management (ORM) System, to include access to engineering drawings, blueprints, technical manuals and other mission-critical documentation and an efficient collaborative environment to further reduce restoration time, improve efficiency and safeguard workers and the public.

“With this alliance, CES further enhances our leadership position in delivering real-time software solutions for distribution utilities,” said Don McDonnell, chief marketing officer for CES International. “Adding real-time document access and coloration will help our customers increase productivity and cut hard dollar costs by ensuring field service crews have the right version of all supporting documents anytime, anywhere. It will also help ensure public safety and security by providing secure, real-time access to engineering documents across the Internet.”

“We are extremely pleased to be working with CES,” said Christopher E. Fountain, president and CEO of Digital Paper. “We believe that our solution will further differentiate Centricity in the marketplace and that CES’ current customers, as well as prospective customers, will benefit from this partnership. We are also excited about participating in CES’ international user conference in November and demonstrating how Digital Paper solutions can help CES customers cut additional costs and further improve operational efficiency.”

CES’ International User Conference, advanCES 2002, will be held in historic Charleston, S.C., November 3-6. advanCES is expected to draw utility executives and engineers from four continents and more than 60 industry companies.

Digital Paper makes complex documents (i.e., engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics), PDFs, and other documents accessible via a standard browser.

Digital Paper’s patented DirectSight(tm) technology makes this possible without any applets or file downloads, making the product perform where traditional document management systems fall short. Digital Paper solutions are intuitive and can be deployed in two months or less.
