CES International, ACS partner to offer ORM-SCADA

ATLANTA, Ga., Oct. 19, 2001 CES International, a developer of operations-management software for the utility industry, and Advanced Control Systems Inc., a designer and integrator of real-time utility information systems, today announced that the two companies have entered a multi-year partner agreement.

The non-exclusive partnership calls for the companies to integrate their products, offering electrical utilities a real-time, rapidly deployable solution that provides utilities with new opportunities for increased operational efficiency. Under the agreement, ACS will also become a certified reseller and integrator of the Centricity operations resource management (ORM) system, which includes the market’s leading electric outage management application.

“This relationship demonstrates the tremendous benefits of a coordinated, systematic approach to integrating the real-time capabilities of our PRISM platform, including feeder automation, advanced network optimization and outage elimination, with an operations resource management system such as Centricity, which includes outage management, switching management and decision support functions,” said John Muench, founder and CEO of ACS. “Together, we offer a superior solution that lets utilities serve their customers at the highest level possible, while reaping the benefits of accurate, real-time operational control.”

ACS develops and manufactures enterprise-wide information management systems for more than 250 electric utilities around the world. CES International provides its Centricity operational resource management software to more than 40 major utilities worldwide. Under the partnership, CES International and ACS will integrate the ACS PRISM SCADA system with Centricity. Together, the companies will support a standard, upgradeable product interface for joint customers who chose to deploy based on this approach. Several joint customers have already opted for the standardized interface.

“ACS brings a 25-year history of success in the distribution utility industry, and CES brings a 10-year history of helping utilities – large and small – streamline their operations,” said Dave Jones, CEO of CES International “This partnership is a significant step in the evolution of operations management solutions for utilities and represents a tremendous opportunity for ACS, CES, our mutual customers and the utility distribution market at large.”
