CALGARY, AB Can., Sept. 6, 2000 – TransAlta is investing $5 million in Calgary-based Vision Quest Windelectric Inc., as part of its previously announced $100 million environmental fund. This money is earmarked for investments in renewable energy, greenhouse gas offset projects and research and development of clean coal technology.

KANSAS CITY, KAN.–Bob Green, president and chief operating officer of UtiliCorp United Inc., didn’t plan on working in the family utility business.

TNPC Inc. unit New Power Co., the retail electricity company formed by Enron Corp., America Online, and IBM, will begin selling electricity in 10 New Jersey and 4 Pennsylvania counties where incumbent utilities have the most favorable transition rules for competitive providers, the company said Monday.
