Company’s Nevada asset portfolio grows to meet state’s demand

Under the proposed agreement, which is subject to certain regulatory approvals and other closing conditions, Reliant Energy will purchase a total of 372 megawatts of generation capacity. The Sunrise Power Plant, on the eastern edge of Las Vegas, can generate 150 megawatts of power from one steam and one gas turbine generation unit. The power purchase agreement involves three adjacent gas turbine generation units, known as Sun-Peak. Reliant Energy has agreed to purchase 222 megawatts of power from Sun-Peak. The purchase price for both the plant and the power purchase agreement is approximately $33 million.

Dec. 12, 2000–The California Power Exchange Corp. (CalPX) filed an emergency motion Monday asking the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to relax caps on congestion management bids in the day-ahead and day-of wholesale electricity markets.
