Consultants: Coal outlook rosy for most U.S. regions

HOUSTON, Mar. 5, 2001–Most U.S. steam coal markets will be tight this year, reflecting high natural gas prices and rising demand for electricity.

NEW YORK, March 05, 2001 – Electric utilities in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) region are not likely to encounter the same pressure on their ability to procure reasonably priced power for their customers and to maintain their credit ratings as have California’s utilities, Moody’s Investors Service concludes in a new report.
