Consumer group criticizes FERC for inaction

HOUSTON, Mar. 20, 2001–When cheap gas disappeared so did the benefits of electricity restructuring, warns an economist for the Consumer Federation of America in a new assessment of what’s gone wrong in the market.

March 20, 2001–The energy crises that have caused customers across the country to question the reliability of their power grid and the stability of their electricity bill has had at least one good side: people in all walks of life are starting to reexamine their energy choices and take another look at the benefits renewable energy sources could offer.
