Control and Information Technology

Ovation control and information technology is designed for real-time, mission critical applications that incorporates mainstream, open computing platforms and standards-based networking across the board. Ovation eliminates proprietary operating schemes and vendor-specific hardware platforms associated with conventional distribution control systems. Key elements include a standards-compliant, fully redundant, high-speed FIDDLE network backbone using commercially available hardware; fully redundant Pentium PC controllers using standards PCI bus architecture and commercially available real-time operating system; off-the-shelf workstations or PC user interface with Solaris or Windows NT operating systems; a JAVA-compliant Web server; and an embedded relational database management system to ensure systemwide data continuity and access.
