DA/DSM(TM) EUROPE `96 Waltzes to Vienna

Grub Gott, Wien! At more than 1,000 years old, Vienna, Austria, boasts a rich and colorful history. In the Middle Ages, the region was once a center of the Holy Roman Empire and later supplanted by the Austro-Hungarian empire under the Habsburg dynasty. This was the beginning of great architecture in Vienna as construction of several beautiful churches and imperial palaces commenced. Thereafter, the city became a haven for great music composers such as Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms. At the turn of the century, Vienna was home to great progressive thinkers and artists such as Freud and Kokoschka. Today, Vienna is the gateway to the emerging democracies of Eastern Europe. It is also the 1996 host city of DA/DSM(TM) Europe, a premiere international conference and exhibition on utility automation, system strategies, information technology and customer services. DA/DSM(TM) Europe `96 will take place at the Austria Centre in Vienna from Oct. 8 to 10, 1996.

The program committee, with 60 members from 19 countries, has selected 75 papers for presentation at the conference. The program grid shows the topics covered during the conference. The opening key-note session will offer a welcome to innovation and an engaging analysis of current issues. After a multi-media presentation on the home of the future, a panel discussion will be held on three topics: the relationship between DSM and IRP directive, deregulation and new regulation, and the commitments and future needs of the energy industry.

New this year is a full track on customer services.* The conference will close with the announcement of the winners of the Innovation Awards. This is followed by three technical tours: the new EVN regional distribution control centre at Wiener Neustadt, the HVDC back-to-back station Vienna South East and Verbund control centre in Vienna Centre.

More than 75 companies from all over the world will present their products and services in the utility automation market. Visitors will have hands-on access to the latest in information systems, communications, T&D equipment, distribution management, demand-side management and energy efficiency technologies. Visitors may also browse through the poster session for additional information on new and innovative industry projects.

The show will attract more than 1,500 visitors from more than 30 different countries. Show attendees include utility engineers, managers and other decision makers actively involved in information systems and utility automation technologies for the electric, gas, water, steam and telecommunications industries. The show will prove to be an excellent stage for exchanging ideas and visions for those seeking the state-of-the-art in DA/DSM technology and practices.
