Dispute arises on delaying Arkansas electric competition

Oct. 23, 2000–Arkansas regulators and three investor-owned utilities are proposing asking the state general assembly to delay electric competition until October 2003 and possibly as late as 2005. But Arkansas electric cooperatives and the state attorney general are seeking a longer delay of up to 2005 at the earliest and as late as 2007.

CHICAGO and PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 20, 2000 (PRNewswire) – Unicom Corporation (NYSE: UCM) and PECO Energy Company today announced that they have completed their merger and on October 23, 2000 will begin trading as Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol EXC. Exelon will also be listed on the Chicago and Philadelphia stock exchanges.
