DistribuTECH: A hybrid approach to commercial and industrial AMR

Utilities recognize the benefits of using RF networks, but also acknowledge that owning them may not be the best way to have access to bandwidth, according to speaker Robin Shaffer of Zeus Wireless. Public RF providers are solidifying their networks based on primary income derived from voice and data applications. The panel presented three public network carriers and their strategies for optimizing value to utilities.

And it’s not only whether a utility is using mobile data solutions, but how well those solutions are being implemented that’s important, according to speakers at a Monday session during the DistribuTECH 2001 conference.
