DistribuTECH Expands to Brasil

North America’s No. 1 electricity transmission and distribution show, DistribuTECH Conference & Exhibition, is expanding into Brasil and co-locating with HydroVision Brasil during its second consecutive year in Brasil.

Running Sept. 25-27, 2012, at the Riocentro Exhibition and Convention Center, DistribuTECH Brasil is leading the way in information exchange and utility education in Rio de Janeiro. DistribuTECH Brasil covers electricity transmission and distribution from end to end, empowering each attendee to take hold of his or her future. From educational sessions to the very latest in the utility industry, DistribuTECH Brasil offers one-of-a-kind insights with power knowledge and industry details.

DistribuTECH Brasil is proud to announce that Brasil’s very own Light SESA is hosting the event. Light SESA is an electric power distributor that serves 3.9 million customers.

Attendees can make the most of a DistribuTECH Brasil experience by attending Utility University, a half-day pre-conference course. DistribuTECH Brasil’s Utility University will focus on smart feeders and smart control centers in a smart grid world. The course will be taught by Acher Mossàƒ©, executive director in Latin America for EPRI International Inc.; Mark McGranaghan, vice president of the power delivery and utilization sector for EPRI; Nelson Kagan, a professor at the University of Sao Paulo; and Robert Uluski, the technical executive for EPRI. The course will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in a classroom environment to maximize the learning experience.

After the Utility University course concludes, DistribuTECH Brasil 2012 will officially kick off with an opening keynote session Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 25.

Following the keynote, the sessions will offer a variety of learning opportunities. Sessions are broken into related tracks, including: smart distribution, smart grid business issues and opportunities, and grid operation and integration.

The Mega Session focuses on the future of the utility industry. As transmission and distribution utilities adopt new technologies, grids become smarter, customers’ expectations increase and utilities will face new challenges and opportunities. Although it isn’t clear exactly what tomorrow’s utilities will look like, it is clear they will look different than today’s. Society, customers, shareholders and regulators are demanding changes. A panel of experts will discuss the changing utilities, what they believe tomorrow’s utilities will look like and how utilities are making the transition.

DistribuTECH Brasil is not all learning and no play. Plenty of social opportunities exist to just sit and visit with colleagues, acquaintances and new friends.

With such a wide range of conference sessions, exposition and networking opportunities, DistribuTECH Brasil promises to be the highlight of the industry for 2012.
