DTE Energy Technologies signs agreement to acquire assets of Certified Electrical Distributors

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. and YORK, S.C., April 11, 2002 — DTE Energy Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of DTE Energy Co., and Certified Electrical Distributors Inc. (CED), a distribution company that provides electrical generators and services, and an integrator of distributed generation solutions, announced the signing of an agreement whereby DTE Energy Technologies would purchase substantially all of CED’s assets, including its line of business involving National Generator Service LLC (NGS).

CED generation systems range in size from 5 to 2,000 kilowatts and include portable, home stand-by, mobile, commercial and industrial generators fueled by diesel, gasoline, LP and natural gas. CED’s service support is provided by NGS, which addresses customers’ needs for support services through an array of service capabilities including installation and maintenance. CED has offices in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

“As a leader in distributed generation, DTE Energy Technologies will use CED’s sales and service network to expand its operations to the Southeastern part of the U.S.,” said G.
