El Paso reacts to end of DOE order

While the law does not mention gas purchases, Clark Smith, president of El Paso Merchant Energy Co., said the company also is attempting to structure “some deals” on gas that will support power sales. El Paso executives spoke during a press conference and analyst presentation laying out the company’s strategy now that its acquisition of Coastal Corp. is completed.
