Elster’s EnergyAxis System obtains MultiSpeak 3.0 compliance for outage management systems

Raleigh, NC, Sept. 18, 2008 — Elster announced that it successfully completed version 3.0 MultiSpeak interoperability assertion testing for its EnergyAxis AMI system. MultiSpeak 3.0 interoperability testing enables utilities to more easily create interfaces between Elster’s EnergyAxis System and MultiSpeak 3.0 compatible outage management systems (OMS).

The MultiSpeak Initiative is a collaboration of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), and more than 40 companies supplying software solutions to utility market. The initiative has defined standardized interfaces among software products commonly used by utilities. The standardized interface helps drive application interoperability and eliminate the expense and time otherwise needed to develop custom interfaces.

Originally targeted at small electric utilities, the MultiSpeak effort has expanded to include a broad range of applications for electric utilities of all sizes, as well as for those that supply water and gas services.
