EMG acquires Wildorado Wind Ranch

Irvine, CA, Feb. 27, 2006 — Edison Mission Group (EMG), a subsidiary of Edison International, announced that it has finalized an agreement to acquire the 161 megawatt (MW) Wildorado Wind Ranch located in the panhandle of northern Texas.

EMG purchased the project from Cielo Wind Power LP, a Texas-based wind generation developer, which will retain a minority interest. Upon completion of construction, the electricity produced by Wildorado will be sold to Southwestern Public Service, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, under a long-term power purchase agreement.

The project will include 70 turbines. Construction will begin in the spring of 2006, with commercial operations expected in early 2007.

With the acquisition of Wildorado, EMG has a national wind portfolio of 477 MW at 10 sites in Iowa, Minnesota, New Mexico and Texas. In addition, EMG is working with local developers to permit a 90 MW project in Maine, and has entered into a joint development agreement that is expected to result in several new projects with Midwest Wind Energy of Chicago.
