Energy efficiency improvements implemented at local academy

OLDENBURG, Ind., Dec. 16, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) — The 193 students at Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception are learning, playing and socializing in a more energy efficient and better-lighted facility, thanks to the efforts of Cinergy Solutions, an affiliate of Cinergy Corp.

Cinergy Solutions is implementing numerous retrofits designed to improve energy efficiency on the grounds of the Catholic preparatory high school located near Batesville, Indiana. Oldenburg Academy is known for its rich heritage of providing more than 150 years of academic excellence. Cinergy Solutions, which specializes in facility and infrastructure solutions, installed energy management temperature controls as well as new heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems (HVAC) in the high school and auditorium. Refurbishment of the air-handling units in the basement and gym, replacement of windows and doors and lighting upgrades are also among the planned improvements.

“Our facilities are being greatly improved by these recent and on-going infrastructure improvements,” said Sr. Therese Gillman, President of Oldenburg Academy of the Immaculate Conception. “Given the level of academic excellence expected from the faculty and students attending Oldenburg, it follows that our facilities offer a backdrop of excellence in which to learn, teach and grow. Our partnership with Cinergy Solutions has given us the opportunity to offer this much-improved atmosphere. I was impressed with Cinergy Solutions’ customer service and ability to work simultaneously without interrupting our rigorous academic schedule. “

Also benefiting from the project are the 21 Oldenburg faculty members who focus their efforts on the academic excellence, social responsibility, leadership development and personal growth of their students. The school is located on the grounds of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis.

Cinergy Solutions has assisted schools across the United States through the implementation of similar improvements, successfully supporting educators in improving educational facilities and operating efficiencies, enhancing learning environments, improving the quality of existing and planned facilities, reducing utility costs and conserving energy.

“Cinergy Solutions is pleased to partner with the Oldenburg Academy in what will be our third energy efficiency project on the campus in the past four years,” said Cinergy Solutions President, Steve Harkness. “Through these enhancements, the Academy can expect even greater efficiency and lowered utility costs.”
