Energy marketing and operations solution from NewEnergy Associates helps Midwest Energy participate in the SPP EIS market

ATLANTA, May 13, 2005 – Wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation, NewEnergy Associates announced that Midwest Energy has licensed its RetailOffice® software solution to manage their electric and gas transactions.

The initial implementation will position Midwest Energy to perform hourly and day-ahead load forecasting, as well as transaction scheduling, transmission scheduling, and shadow settlement functionality. The second phase of the implementation will cover gas operations including daily/monthly load forecasting, scheduling and nomination transactions, as well as settlement, and customer billing.

Midwest Energy’s Vice President of Energy Management and Supply, Bill Dowling, said, “We selected NewEnergy Associates because they offered the best solution for both electric and gas transaction management.” Dowling goes on to say, “RetailOffice provides the flexibility we needed to eventually participate directly in the Southwest Power Pool energy markets, and it more than meets our needs in terms of custom reporting and stringent audit trail requirements.”

“Energy companies participating in any competitive electric or gas market will need the flexibility our RetailOffice® solution offers to manage their future success and growth,” said Deane S. Price, President and Chief Executive Officer of NewEnergy Associates, A Siemens Company.

As the SPP market continues to develop, Midwest Energy has the ability to expand NewEnergy’s solution to include the PowerBase Suiteâ„- for congestion analysis, Locational Marginal Price (LMP) forecasting and Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) valuation. Midwest Energy will find that the solution will grow as their business grows, because NewEnergy’s solution is flexible and is designed to manage retail and wholesale transactions for multiple business segments, markets, and commodities.
