Energy Providers Deliver E-Bills

Con Edison Solutions, a Consolidated Edison Inc. subsidiary, recently began offering its New York residential and small-business customers Internet billing and payment. TransPoint, an Internet bill delivery and payment service provider, is delivering the new service. Consolidated Edison Solutions planned to have the service available for customers in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey in December. The energy service provider intends for its new “e-bills” to provide customers with a more time-efficient, cost-effective method of receiving, reviewing and paying bills.

Consumers Energy, a CMS Energy Corp. subsidiary, is offering a similar billing service for its Michigan customers. Consumers Energy electric and natural gas customers can review and pay their bills through the utility’s new Online Billing service, which automatically deducts funds from participating customers’ checking or savings accounts. The Online Billing service also allows customers to review their electric and gas consumption for the past 18 months.
