Entergy, FPL break off merger agreement

b>HOUSTON, Apr. 2, 2001-Entergy Corp. and FPL Group Inc. Monday terminated their merger agreement in a dispute over the management team, business strategy, and emerging valuation issues.

March 30, 2001—Acquisitions of U.S. energy companies and assets by foreign investors totaled $15 billion in 1999, their second highest level in the 1990’s, the Energy Information Agency said.
