Happy Birthday to UA!
The May/June issue marks its first birthday–hopefully the first of many milestones that we`ll celebrate in the years ahead.
During our first year, we have built a foundation upon which Utility Automation is becoming your forum for the exchange of information, ideas and opinions in the dynamic utility automation market. From our humble beginning as a supplement to our sister PennWell publications, Electric Light & Power and WaterWorld, Utility Automation has grown in size to address the market and all of its intricacies as accurately as possible.
It is important to note that both Utility Automation and myself grew from market research. After five years studying the utility-automation market, Jerry Locsin, Utility Automation`s Senior Editor, and I felt that your needs for quality information were not being served by the typical, vertical industry publications. We saw a market with rapidly evolving and, in many cases, integrating technologies that needed a home–thus Utility Automation was born.
Over the past year, we`ve added new sections to Utility Automation (“Utility Automation News,” “New Automation
Products” and “Market Data Terminus”) to give you regularly scheduled information to complement our features. We have also launched the Utility Automation Installed Base Directory, the Utility Automation Buyer`s Guide (formerly the Electric Light & Power Yellow Pages) and UAnews (formerly the DA/DSM Monitor newsletter). Naturally, we hope that this mix of products and services are putting the information you need in your hands in the most cost-effective manner.
I know I speak for all of us associated with Utility Automation when I ask you to look at our staff and network of resources as opportunities for you to learn more about your industry. From our editorial staff to our research analysts to our marketing staff, I invite you to put us to work for you!
