GE expands its lineup of online customer services

ATLANTA, Ga., Sept. 6, 2001 – GE Power Systems has expanded its portfolio of online services for customers with the launch of GERepairSolutions.com(SM), which links users to more than 60 GE service facilities around the world.

The new website enables users to quickly and easily find repair services for all types of industrial and power plant equipment, including gas and steam turbines, motors, switchgear, and transformers.

GE’s service centers provide repair services for GE components as well as equipment from other manufacturers. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of the capabilities of a specific service facility, including each center’s areas of specialization, GERepairSolutions.com also:

௿½ Provides contact information for each service center

௿½ Lets the user view the workscope of a specific repair, checking each step required to complete the service

௿½ Enables the user to request a quote online for a repair service

௿½ Enables the user to ask a question regarding GE Power Systems repair services and receive a response, usually within one business day

௿½ Allows the user to submit a purchase order to initiate service work online

The development team is already working on additional functionality for GERepairSolutions.com such as allowing registered customers to check the status of in-process repair and confirm scheduling details.

“Our goal is to make it as convenient as possible for customers to identify services and repair facilities within our network, and to quickly access those services to meet their specific requirements.” said Ernie Gault, Vice President of GE Energy Services.

GERepairSolutions.com is the third member of GE’s family of online services for customers, joining Outage Optimizer(SM), a powerful tool for outage planning and asset optimization; and GEPartsEdge(SM), which provides customers around the world with a single portal for buying and selling power generation equipment parts from GE and other OEMs.

“GERepairSolutions.com complements GE Power Systems’ family of online services for customers. It is the latest example of how GE continues to use the power of e-commerce and the Internet to help our industrial and utility customers improve the performance and profitability of their facilities,” said Jean-Michel Ares, Chief Information Officer for GE Power Systems.
