Green Mountain Energy Co. acquires USPowerSolutions Corp.

AUSTIN, Texas and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 22, 2002 — Green Mountain Energy Co. announced recently that it has acquired technology services provider, USPowerSolutions Corporation (USPS). Both companies are privately held and financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Cambridge, Massachusetts based USPS was founded in 1998 and is a developer of world-class software solutions and services for regulated and unregulated energy companies.
Since early 2001, Green Mountain Energy Company has been using USPS’ PowerSolutionà¢â€ž- software platform, which provides a single point of access to a wide array of business applications.

The move to acquire the technology company was a result of Green Mountain Energy Company’s desire to focus the technology and experience at USPS on increasing efficiency and improving customer service for Green Mountain Energy Company customers.

“The technology and talent that we will integrate into Green Mountain Energy Company through this deal will give us more control over key elements of our information supply chain,” said Roland Icard, chief information officer for Green Mountain Energy Company. “Improved relationships with trading partners, increased billing efficiency and the ability to better utilize and leverage customer data within our marketing efforts are just a few of the benefits we will see. Ultimately this control will lead to a better experience for our customers.”

USPS is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Green Mountain Energy Company. Remaining USPS employees will continue to work from their Cambridge, MA office.
