Green Mountain Energy Co. selected to participate in Houston’s Consumer Choice Initiative

Houston, TX, April 6, 2006 — Green Mountain Energy Co., a retailer of “cleaner” electricity, has been selected to participate in the City of Houston’s Consumer Choice Initiative (CCI) campaign.

Mayor Bill White officially launched the new CCI campaign to promote electric competition and educate Houston residential customers about making informed choices concerning their electricity supplier.

Green Mountain Energy Co. will offer Houstonians two different Pollution Free electricity products that are competitive with the local electric provider’s price to beat: Pollution Free and Pollution Free-Reliable Rate.

* Pollution Free — generated solely from wind and water and sold at a price that is the same as the incumbent provider’s price to beat as approved by the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of Texas.

* Pollution Free — Reliable Rate — generated solely from wind and water and sold at a fixed price of 16 cents per kilowatt-hour, which is less than the average per kWh rate under the current incumbent provider’s price to beat for an average customer using 1,000 kWh per month. This rate is guaranteed through December 31, 2006.
