Green Mountain Energy Company announces changes in company’s management structure

AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 17, 2002 — Green Mountain Energy Company today announced that Dennis Kelly, the company’s CEO, has been named to the newly created position of vice chairman.

Paul Thomas, currently president and COO, was named CEO and president of the company.

These executive changes become effective February 1, 2002. Both Kelly and Thomas will report directly to the company’s board of directors.

In his new position as vice chairman, Kelly will work closely with the board of directors, the company’s current investors, potential investors, and strategic partners. In addition, Kelly will concentrate on the company’s external constituents and stakeholders, including industry groups and associations, as well as federal and state agencies and organizations interested in creation of choice for cleaner electricity.

In his role as CEO, Thomas will manage the daily operations of the company. He will lead the execution of the company’s three-pronged business strategy: marketing electric service directly to customers; providing energy through aggregation agreements; and partnering with utilities in regulated states to offer Green Mountain EnergySM electricity as an energy choice for consumers.
