ST. LOUIS, Mo., Nov. 10, 2003 — Hunt Technologies, Inc. and GE Industrial Systems, a business unit of the General Electric Co., announce a joint development agreement for the creation of an option board for the GE kV2c / kV2 metering platform.
The GE kV2c / kV2 endpoint transceiver is an option board that makes use of Hunt Technologies’ TS2, bi-directional power line carrier technology to directly read the register of the meter.
This GE kV2c / kV2 endpoint transceiver is designed to fit under the meter cover of the most popular S-base and A-base meter forms. Utilizing the features available within the TS2 Command Center software, utilities are able to gather over 200 meter values from the register of the meter via the serial interface.
“Our customers have requested a direct register read, under glass solution for polyphase metering,” said Alan Swanson, Hunt Technologies product marketing manager. “This is the first of multiple solutions Hunt plans to develop for ANSI C.12.18/19 compliant meters.”
The GE kV2c / kV2 meter provides revenue metering, real time instrumentation, true power quality monitoring, and real cost of service measurement.

This joint development effort allows utilities to take advantage of Hunt Technologies’ bidirectional power line carrier communication system and the solid state metering solution provided by GE in the kV2c / kV2 and kV2c / kV2c product line.
