Hydro-Quebec agrees to sell its stake in Cross Sound Cable

Montreal, Quebec, Nov. 9, 2005 — Hydro-Quebec, through its wholly owned subsidiary TransEnergie HQ Inc., announced that it has reached an agreement to sell its interest in Cross Sound Cable Co., LLC (CSC LLC) to Babcock & Brown Infrastructure Ltd. for $160 million.

Cross Sound Cable LLC was created in Oct. 2000 for the purpose of developing, building and operating a 330-MW underwater transmission cable between New Haven, Connecticut and Brookhaven, Long Island, New York. It is a joint venture owned by Hydro-Quebec (75%) and UIL Holdings Corporation (25%). The closing of this transaction is subject to obtaining the customary approvals.
