AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 2, 2005 (PRNewswire-FirstCall) — FirstEnergy Corp. said that employees of its Toledo Edison Company subsidiary represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 245 voted to ratify a three-year contract agreement. Union leadership and the company entered into a stipulated agreement on January 14, 2005.
“We are pleased that the contract has been ratified and we can all now better focus on our most important job – providing our customers with safe and reliable service,” said Jim Murray, president of Toledo Edison.
The agreement includes a three-percent wage increase for each year of the contract. IBEW Local 245 includes 235 linemen, substation personnel and meter readers from Toledo Edison; 128 represented employees at FirstEnergy’s Bay Shore and Richland plants; and 196 represented employees at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.
