IMServ North America metering application approved in the state of New York

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 5, 2001 — IMServ North America LLC (IMServ) announces today that it has been granted Certification from the State of New York to act as a Meter Data Service Provider (MDSP).

The certification entitles IMServ to participate fully in load curtailment and other related energy management projects throughout the State and to proceed with the certification process with each utility that will allow IMServ to provide billing ready energy information and other customer services.

IMServ will provide metering and energy related services to the Direct Access customers of New York including: meter reading, meter data translation, customer association, validation, editing and estimation (VEE), data aggregation, on-demand meter reads, and internet-based load profile reporting.

The Public Service Commission of New York has opened the door for competitive metering and meter data services to customers with demand of 50 kW or greater. New York is in the early stages of the transition to competitive energy markets. However, they have made substantial progress in reducing rates and moving towards a competitive energy industry that will benefit customers in the long run.

“As the largest metering and energy data collection firm in the world, we read more meters than any utility and look forward to the opportunity to work with energy suppliers, customers and utilities to provide these services in New York,” says Greg Lizak, vice president of regulatory affairs for IMServ North America LLC.

“This most recent certification puts us one step closer to becoming certified in all direct access states,” says Mike Jordan, vice president and general manager of IMServ North America LLC. “We are excited to bring our advanced metering services to New York. As part of our services, IMServ will be offering WEB based access for customers to view their energy usage and on-demand, anytime meter reads. The on-demand reads will be of particular value to customers who need to know how much energy they are currently using.”
