Indiana groups urge lawmakers to regulate merchant power plant industry

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Oct. 11, 2000 (Knight Ridder/Tribune)–A coalition of Indiana environmental and citizen advocacy groups converged on the Statehouse Tuesday to persuade lawmakers and state utility regulators to develop a comprehensive plan aimed at regulating the fast-growing merchant power plant industry.

Oct. 16, 2000–In a flurry of filings, transmission-owning companies submitted applications Monday to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to sell or transfer control of their transmission assets to parties that meet the requirements of FERC Order 2000.
