Justice Dept. sues Duke Energy over Clean Air Act violations

The DOJ alleges that Duke Energy violated the Clean Air Act by making major modifications to all of its coal-fired power plants in the Carolinas without installing the equipment required to control smog, acid rain, and soot.

Dec. 22, 2000–U.S. government forecasters Thursday raised long-term projections for electricity demand to 1.8%/year between 1999-2020, up from 1.3% for the same period in a year-ago forecast.
