Kansas City Power & Light proceeds with telecom investment

This transaction, replacing a proposal that was put on hold in October amid volatility in the capital markets for telecom companies, should accelerate the completion and commercialization of DTI’s advanced voice and data network.

ATLANTA, Dec. 5, 2000 (PRNewswire) — CES International, a leading software company for the utility industry, announced today that Houston-based Reliant Energy (NYSE: REI – news) has signed a multi-million dollar contract with CES International. Under the agreement, CES will deploy its Centricity operations resource management (ORM) system to help Reliant Energy Houston Lighting and Power enhance its service to utility customers.
