Metropolitan agrees to reduce energy use by up to 45 percent on Colorado River Aqueduct

Under an agreement with the California Independent System Operator (ISO), Metropolitan will make additional electricity available for California’s power needs, without impacting the reliability of imported water service for 17 million Southern Californians.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, May 9, 2001 – James P. Torgerson, president and CEO of the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator, Inc. (MISO), announced today that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has accepted a settlement between the Midwest ISO, several of its transmission-owning members and the Alliance RTO with minor modifications and clarifications.
