MidAmerican Energy live with Synergen Series

WALNUT CREEK, CA, November 12, 2002 — Synergen, Inc. Tuesday announced that MidAmerican Energy Company has gone live with the Synergen Seriesâ„- as its EAM/CMMS solution of choice for MidAmerican’s power generation division.

With more than 4,400 megawatts of generating capability, MidAmerican is the largest energy company in Iowa, serving gas and electricity to 1.3 million customers in Iowa, South Dakota, Illinois and Nebraska. MidAmerican chose the Synergen Series to increase asset availability and improve operational efficiencies based on specific ROI goals.

An initial rollout has already brought four MidAmerican plants live on the Synergen Series. After full deployment, a total of 11 coal and gas-fueled power plants with 36 generating units will be live with the Synergen Series.

“The Synergen Series offered an effective solution for MidAmerican,” said Jack Alexander, senior vice president of supply and marketing at MidAmerican. “The functionality and user-friendly interface work well to replace our former system. And Synergen’s implementation approach worked well; the Web-based EAM/CMMS product offers a good fit with our 11 geographically dispersed plants.”

“MidAmerican is a company committed to delivering exceptional service to their customers. With a $2.5 billion asset base, maintaining low production costs is key to keeping their customers rates low,” commented Richard MacDonald, president and CEO of Synergen. “It’s testimony to MidAmerican’s vision to invest in an enterprise-wide asset management strategy to ensure continued success and furthering of their goals. We’re proud that they recognized and selected Synergen to meet those crucial initiatives.”

Synergen’s Web-based EAM/CMMS software suite, The Synergen Seriesâ„-, addresses all aspects of MRO including: collaborative work management, asset reliability and maintenance; inventory control, purchasing, and contract management; operational accounting; reporting and analysis; project tracking; safety and regulatory compliance; and document control.

Supported by the latest in Internet technology, users need only a standard Web browser to rapidly install, deploy and access Synergen solutions across the enterprise.

Synergen, Inc. has built an industry-wide reputation for excellence with the Synergen Seriesâ„-, recently being named 2002 MRO Gold Product of the Year by Plant Services magazine – the only EAM/CMMS vendor to be recognized with this prestigious award.
