Midwest storm causes flooding, knocks out power

The Omaha, Neb., Capitol Building was damaged by 60-79 mph winds, Associated Press reported on Saturday. The wind also damaged homes and businesses in the area and caused power outages throughout the eastern half of Nebraska.

NORTH SALEM, NY, April 9, 2001 — Five utilities based in southern states outperformed their counterparts throughout the U.S. in restoring unexpected outages in the first-of-its-kind national independent customer assessment of power provider performance in emergencies.
