Mines still fueling America: Here, 99 percent of all electricity comes from coal

CHARLESTON, Sept. 19, 2000 (Charleston Gazette) — The coal industry still makes major contributions to the Mountain State economy, according to statistics and graphs published in “Impact: The Importance of Coal to West Virginia,” a new pamphlet available from the West Virginia Mining and Reclamation Association.

RAPID CITY, S.D., Sept. 19, 2000 — Black Hills Corp. announced recently that its independent energy subsidiary Black Hills Energy Capital Inc. (BHEC) has signed two ten-year contracts with Public Service of Colorado (PSCO) to supply electricity from the Arapahoe and Valmont facilities in the Denver and Boulder metropolitan areas.
