Murray United Development Corporation announces breakthrough technology for flue gas removal in coal power plants

A 99.2% removal rate of Sulfur Dioxide flue gas was reached with a consistent 98% maintained throughout the test period. It is believed by Murray United Development Corporation (MUDCO) and Penn State that 100% removal is possible in addition to regenerative desulfurization.

CALGARY, Alberta, July 4, 2001 – TransAlta announced today it signed an agreement to sell its Alberta-based transmission business to AltaLink, a consortium of companies comprising SNC Lavalin Energy, Trans-Elect Inc., the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and Macquarie North America Ltd. (a subsidiary of Macquarie Group of Sydney, Australia).
