Nation’s retail chains name outstanding electric company service programs, reps

DENVER, Colo., May 2, 2002 — The nation’s multi-site energy users today named Entergy, Southern Co., and Xcel Energy as the electric companies who offered the nation’s best overall customer service in 2001.

Awards for outstanding customer service by individual National Accounts executives were presented to Barry Mosser of American Electric Power, Ralph Joyce of Dominion Virginia Power, Dennis Trepainer of Niagara Mohawk, and Judy Corrigan of Xcel Energy.

The winning electric companies and representatives were chosen during the fourth annual Customer Service Awards program here at Edison Electric Institute’s Spring National Accounts Workshop.

“The winning companies and reps deserve the praise they received today,” said Steve Kiesner, Director of EEI’s National Accounts program. “Their work has benefited their customers, but their focus and dedication also serve as an inspiration to other electric companies and National Accounts representatives. I’m also happy to add that as the retail electric utility industry grows more competitive each year, it’s getting harder for the nation’s chains to pick the winners.”

The multi-site energy users participating in the awards program comprise a wide variety of industries, including food service, healthcare, lodging, grocery, retail, property management, convenience store, and telecom companies. The winning utility companies were selected by representatives from within these industries that have direct contact with utilities, such as energy, billing, operations, design, and construction personnel.
