New Energy Services System for ConEd

New Energy Services System for ConEd

Consolidated Edison Co. of New York is working with AT&T to develop new energy-service products for its commercial customers. Based on AT&T`s two-way customer-communications system for the utility industry, the new service products include power-quality monitoring, real-time pricing, customer-controlled load management and other interactive services. In addition to services based on the AT&T Broadband Utility Solution, the two companies will evaluate the development of custom networks and advanced energy-management services for ConEd`s largest customers. These include hospitals, banks, financial exchanges, hotels and large office buildings. According to John Arceri, vice president of energy services, the real-time load profiling feature will also be beneficial to smaller commercial establishments, such as supermarkets, retail outlets and restaurants. During the first phase of system implementation, ConEd will conduct a trial of new energy services products for approximately 100 commercial sites.
