New England utility upgrades its geospatial system

Northeast Utilities serves 1.77 million electric and natural gas customers throughout the northeast region of the United States. The GE Smallworld software replaces a proprietary legacy system and provides Northeast Utilities with a host of efficient tools for managing their distribution network.

WORCESTER, Mass., May 31, 2001–World Energy Exchange, Inc. and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) have completed an electricity procurement valued at over $165 million for the U.S. General Services Administration and its clients.
