Voltage Regulators

Staco Energy Products has introduced its latest addition to its line of automatic voltage regulators (AVR) for power conditioning in demanding applications. Based on a series regulation transformer controlled by variable transformers (VTs), these robust units offer tight output regulation and are easily customizable. All Staco AVR units feature extremely high overload and inrush ratings. Gold-plated contacts on all coils and nickel-plated copper bus bars are standard.

Test Switches

Brooks Utility Products recently introduced a new generation of substation test switches that provide reliability, safety, versatility and ease of use. The new BFT and TAP switches have proven themselves in rigorous use the past 30 years in Europe. The Brooks UP BFT switch combines the best of the traditional FT switches with new technology and conveniences. It can be used in all areas where traditional FT switches are used: from isolating intelligent electronic devices (such as relays and meters) to calibration and testing. The Brooks BFT switch fits exactly into the panel cutout of existing FT switches. Each electrical contact is embedded in a plastic coating for finger safety.

Data Concentrator

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Inc. has released its new SEL-3373 Station Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC) with archiving. Designed for application in harsh substation environments, the Station PDC comes with an intuitive user interface, the PDC Assistant, for breakthrough ease of use in setup and configuration. Other features include data concentration for as many as 40 PMU inputs, the capability to archive several months of phasor data on the built-in 120-GB solid-state drive (SSD), user-configurable output data streams and built-in NERC CIP security features, including individual and role-based account authentication, access logs, strong passwords and port control.

Panasonic Solutions Co. announced the newest member of its Toughbook U1 ultra-mobile PC product family, the Toughbook U1 Ultra. All Toughbook U1 products combine the portability of a handheld computer, the benefits of a full Windows OS, the durability needed for enterprise applications and a suite of available integrated features. The new Toughbook U1 Ultra is equipped with a TransflectivePlus display for up to 6,000 nit viewability in direct sunlight, 64-GB solid state hard drive, 2 GB of memory, an Intel Atom Processor (Z530 1.6Ghz) and Windows 7. The Toughbook U1 family of handheld replacement computers has undergone usability and navigation enhancements.

Ethernet Switch

N-TRON Corp. announced an additional gigabit model for its recently released fully managed compact industrial Ethernet switch series. Small and powerful, the new 7012FX2 provides eight copper ports, two fiber ports and two gigabit ports (SFP transceivers optional) for maximum flexibility in industrial environments. The 7012FX2 joins the 709FX, 710FX2, 711FX3, 712FX4, 714FX6 and 7010TX in the fully managed product line—all small form, feature-rich models with advanced network management functionality and outstanding reliability.
