Contract Awards and Extensions

SchlumbergerSema has signed a real-time energy management contract with Austin Energy. The contract, valued at approximately $30 million over 15 years, includes automation of 123,000 customer meter end-points, purchase of approximately 60,000 new SchlumbergerSema Centron wireless meters and retrofit of 63,000 existing meters with SchlumbergerSema fixed network meter reading technology. Deployment will begin this fall and be complete in approximately 12 months.

Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) has awarded Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution’s Energy Management and Information Systems division a contract for a transmission energy management system to replace OPPD’s existing legacy Siemens system. The project calls for Siemens to provide a Siemens SINAUT Spectrum Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system with ICCP and Advanced Generation Control (AGC) applications.

Idaho Power Co. has purchased and installed Telemetric Line Voltage Monitor (TVM1) products from Telemetric Corp. in several regions of its distribution system. The TVM1 reports steady-state voltages, voltage spikes and power outages, then notifies system operators of trouble areas.

The Central Illinois Light Company (CILCO) implementation team has selected KEMA Consulting to provide technical consulting and support services for CILCO’s PowerOn outage management system.

Alliances, Mergers and Acquisitions

CES International, a provider of energy-delivery and network-management software for distribution utilities, has acquired Enermetrix, a developer of energy software solutions including its retail energy exchange. CES International will operate Enermetrix as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Osmose Inc., a provider of predictive and preventative maintenance services for T&D systems, has acquired Coherent Network’s FastGate/Utility Division.

Advantica Stoner and Miner & Miner have announced a collaborative project that will enable electric and gas utilities to access Advantica Stoner’s network analysis capabilities from within Miner & Miner’s GIS-based Network Adapter product as they perform work in Designer or ArcFM.

American Electric Power has completed the sale of SEEBOARD, AEP’s retail electricity and gas supply and electricity distribution subsidiary in southeast England, to London Electricity Group.
