NexusData signs pilot contract with Progress Energy to provide AMR system

Dallas, Texas, Oct. 7, 2002 — NexusData Inc., a provider of low-cost wireless wide area data collection services and information management systems for the utility industry, announced that Progress Energy has chosen NexusData to provide a pilot solution of an automated meter reading (AMR) data collection system.

“For Progress energy to select NexusData along with DCSI over other AMR vendors they have worked with, says a lot for our technology and our people,” said Jett Graham, Vice President of Sales for NexusData. “The NexusData AMR network is an enabler for utilities to increase customer service and help to maximize internal cost savings.”

“We feel that we have chosen two strong technologies to meet our needs for AMR systems to proceed forward with a pilot starting in October. ” Said Julie Broadway, Special Projects Coordinator for Progress Energy. “NexusData’s low cost fixed network providing multiple reads per day along with the scalability were the main reasons for selecting NexusData.”
